Structural Welds – AWS Inspection
The American Welding Society (AWS) codes are used in North America to inspect various types of welds in conventional ultrasonic testing (UT). The type of welded material, the welding process and the industry directly influence the inspection criteria.
The Sonatest WAVE instrument with its Interactive Scan- Plan can significantly optimise the visualisation of the weld joints since the A-Scan signal is displayed along the sound path, allowing a comprehensive identification of potential defect locations. WAVE Companion, a PC software managing tool, allows the creation of dedicated applications (Wave App) that contain relevant parameters in compliance to AWS guidelines and other inspection requirements.
