Multi-Frequency Inspection of Composites with Variable Thicknesses - HIDDEN

Composite materials of varying thicknesses can require multiple scans with a range of probe frequencies to fully cover of a part. With the UTMap software it is possible to take the best sections from multiple scans and assemble them into a single image for review.

Multi-Frequency Inspection of Composites with Variable Thicknesses - HIDDEN

A composite material consists of two or more materials of differing properties combined to create a new structure with a new set of properties. Some of the best-known types of composite are the ‘non-woven’ and ‘woven’ fibre composites such as glass fibre and carbon fibre composites. These are constructed by applying layers of fibre to a chemical binder, like epoxy.

This application note focuses on the analysis of composite materials C-Scans acquired at various frequencies. In addition, using the Sonatest UTMap analysis software, users can assemble all C-Scans to create a single image that represents the part inspected.
